Always forward. This is one of the mantras my yoga instructor repeated during one of our sessions. We were working on our inversions and to help with balancing and not falling over, she repeated the phrase “look forward, because as long as you keep your head up, and eyes forward, you will go in that direction. When my oldest son was learning to drive, the Instructor told the students, “look in the direction that you are going, because if you look in other directions, your vehicle will steer that way”. The same can be said about life and whatever dreams, or goals, you are working to achieve. Along the journey, there can be setbacks, trials, and in 2020 Covid-19. At the present moment, there is an unsurmountable level of uncertainty and the ability to be in the present moment and look to better days ahead can be hard. As we reflect on 2020 and look forward to 2021, there are still so many things to be grateful for in the midst of the madness. For one, you are alive and breathing, there are hundreds of thousands of people who are not. Second, you are healthy, thousands of people are struggling with their health. Third, you have a roof over your head and food to eat. Fourth, you have access to clean water, technology, and freedoms, while many people around the world do not. 2020 was filled with many unexpected twists and turns, however in the midst of it all, there was an undeniable shift and awakening that occurred in our lives. We learned to appreciate and value what matters most in life, one another, health, breath, life again, and love.
“ Count your blessings. Once you realize how valuable you are and how much you have going for you. , the smiles will return, the sun will break out, the music will play, and you will finally be able to move forward the life that God intended for you with grace, strength, courage, and confidence”.
